DMRP Performs At PLS York Cycle in Toronto

The Players performed "Joseph's Trouble about Mary" as part of the York Cycle performances held by Poculi Ludique Societas at the University of Toronto on 20 June 1998. This performance of the entire York Cycle of plays had not been done by PLS since 1977, and was an enjoyable part of the PLS's "The York Cycle: Then and Now" conference, which sandwiched the performances, on 19 and 21 June 1998.

The York Cycle, originally performed in the city of York, England, from around 1376-1576, relates the biblical history of mankind from Creation to Last Judgment, in a series of 47 individual plays. The DMRP production was directed by John Lane of the Pittsburgh Public Theater. Auditions were held in February, 1998; Dr. Jay Keenan, English Department, performed the lead role of Joseph. Dr. Anne Brannen and Donna Waldron handled costumes (those shoes!).
